Antonio Ceniceros Obituary (1930

Antonio Ceniceros passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, in Yakima, Washington, surrounded by his children. He was born August 18, 1930, to parents Apolonio Ceniceros and Exstanislada Guardado, in Santa Catalina de Siena, Durango, Mexico. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The second of nine children, he worked outdoors for most of his life, picking cotton and fruit, becoming a ranch foreman, construction worker, plumber, and electrician. He was a jack of all trades. He was married on March 29, 1952, to Margarita Flores Gandara. Together they had 10 children. At the age of 27, he moved to Torreon, Coah. Mexico. He lived in Mexico City, Juarez, Texas, and New Mexico, working as a day laborer, before moving back to Torreon, Coah., to reunite with his family after the death of his wife to cancer in 1975. In 1985, seeking to support his family he migrated to the United States, starting a new life in Washington State, where his sons Jose, Juan, and Apolonio lived. Antonio truly loved outdoor labor, working in numerous fields in the Yakima Valley. He had two jobs during harvest season, picking in the mornings and working the packing line at Snokist Cannery in the evenings. Starting in 2002, he split his time between Mexico in the off season and the United States during harvest. When returning to Mexico, he would bring with him lights and Christmas decorations for his local church, as well as clothes, candy, and other items to give away to those in need in the small village, where he shared a hacienda with his siblings. He retired in 2005 at the age of 75. He was a man of few words but loved to crack a joke. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, tending his large flower beds, raising chickens and goats, and caring for his rottweiler dogs. He loved to spend time with his family on Sundays, where he cooked his famous Menudo and watched his favorite soccer team, Santos Laguna, surrounded by his kids and grandkids. He is survived by his children, Juan (Andrea, Isac, Anacristina, Rafael, Maria Jose), Apolonio (Alisia, Roberto, Jaime, Tanila, Dyra), Cristela (Abril), Antonio (Antonio, Daniel, Luis, Vicente), Vicente (Unique, Laura, Rubi, Bianca, Vicente), Ana (Alexis, Yakira) and Carlos (Cristela), and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his children, Berta Alicia, Margarita (Orlando, Jose Manuel, Guadalupe, Juan) and Jose (Jose, Margarita, Antonio, Laurie, Eric), and wife, Margarita. The family would like to thank Crescent Health Care for the wonderful care they provided Antonio in the final years of his life. A Viewing will be held at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 4:00-8:00pm.
