Barry Dexter Mckelheer Obituary (2024)

Barry Dexter McKelheer passed away at home on October 26, 2024, in Union Gap, WA. Barry was born December 1, 1944 to Joseph and Vernita McKelheer in Yakima, WA. Barry grew up in the Moxee area and graduated from East Valley High School. Barry started working at Yakima Manufacturing in his early twenties and continued working throughout the years as it transitioned to Jeld-wen and relocated to White Swan, where he eventually retired from. Barry met his life partner Ethel McKelheer (Baumgarten) and married April 1968. He enjoyed taking his family to Buffalo Lake fishing where they spent time with his parents and made it a family event. Barry enjoyed spending time with his cousins and would sit around the table talking and laughing about the things they did growing up. Barry is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Vernita. He is survived by his wife Ethel, his two children Dennis McKelheer and Elizabeth "Diane" McKelheer from Union Gap, three grandchildren Joseph (Jamie) VanTuyl, Zachary VanTuyl, and Trenton (Keilee Richmond) McKelheer from Yakima, and three great grandchildren Casey, Lila, and Caitlin. brother Pat McKelheer of Florida, and sister Jill Berg of Yakima. Service will be November 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 801 Tieton Drive, Yakima, WA with a potluck following. Shaw and Sons cared for the family.
