C. Ehlis

Cora Ruth Ehlis, 76, of Selah died August 31, 2010 at Selah Convalescent Home in Selah. Ruth was born January 14, 1934 in Lamont, Oklahoma to Floyd and Millie (Hartly) Hollingshead. At age 9 Ruth and her family moved to the Yakima Valley and she graduated from Yakima High School in 1953. On November 20, 1954 she married Michael M. Ehlis in Yakima, WA and in 1962 they moved to Selah to raise their
family in a rural area.

Ruth was a homemaker, and worked for Larson Fruit for 11 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, cooking, canning, reading, shopping, winter vacations in Maui, and watching the Seattle Mariners.

She is survived by her husband Mike of Selah ; sons David (Patty) Ehlis of Selah , WA; Don Ehlis of Louisville, KY; Dwayne (Irma) Ehlis of Selah , WA; and Richard (Tina) Ehlis of Yakima, WA; daughters Carolyn Ehlis of Yakima, WA; Janine Ehlis of Maui, HI; and Evelyn (George) Ehlis of Portland, OR; brothers Richard Hollingshead of Richland , WA; and Wayne Hollingshead of Tacoma, WA; sister, Rosemarie Swanson of Benton City, WA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes church, 1112 West Freemont, Selah, WA 98942. A luncheon will follow services at the church. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery at 2.00 pm.
