Daniel Brian Soriano Obituary (1954 - 2023)

Dan "Danny" Soriano, 69, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving family on August 29, 2023 at Cottage in the Meadow, in Yakima WA. Dan was born January 28, 1954 to Rupert Soriano and Ruth Koboski Soriano in Bellevue, WA. At a young age, Dan showed a love for sports and in 1964, he pitched for the Little League Cardinals to win the Bellevue City Championship. In 1973, Dan graduated from Bellevue High. After graduation he worked for Western Pioneer Lines in Ballard for many years. He continued working at various jobs until his retirement in 2014. Dan has two children, Danielle and Michael, who he cherished very much. He treasured every chance he got to spend with them. Family was everything to Dan and he was everything to his family. In 2004 he moved to Yakima to start a very important time in his life as he began his journey of sobriety which he maintained for nearly 20 years. In 2005 Dan met Chris and they married in 2008 creating countless unforgettable happy memories with their newly expanded family to include Chriss children; Jennifer, Sandy, Ryan and Jay. Dan was an easy fun-loving soul. He had an outgoing personality and could make friends with anyone. He will be remembered for his twinkling blue eyes, contagious laugh, and generous heart. He had a wide variety of Hawaiian shirts that he always wore to match his gorgeous tan. He had a comical clumsiness to him that has now been passed on to his two children. Dan had a passion for the ocean whether it be work or play. He treasured spending time with his wife and children on his yearly trips to Kauai. Taking day trips to the various beaches to body surf or just to listen to the waves crashing on the shore were his favorite. You could always find him laying out in the sun with his Coconut Willie Oil and you could always count on him to let you know when it was time to flip. The evenings were spent going to happy hour at the local Oasis to watch the ukulele artist. At home Dan was an avid Mariners and Krakens fan. He enjoyed his Saturday phone calls with his brother Greg to talk about sports. He loved taking weekend trips to Seattle for Mariners games with his wife along with quick stops at the casino on the way home. He was best at playing cribbage and usually walked away from the weekday excursions from the casinos with a little extra in his pocket. Family poker parties usually ended with him wiping everyone clean even though he counted his money at the table. He enjoyed going to family BBQs and lounging around the pool soaking up the sun. He took pride in being called our pool boy. He will be deeply missed. Dan is survived by his wife Chris of Yakima and his children, Danielle and Michael, of Shoreline, WA, stepchildren Jennifer (Ty), Sandy (Roger), Ryan (Michelle), Jay (Tiffany) of Yakima, WA, as well as his brother Greg, nieces and nephews of Portland, OR. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his furry Yorkie companion, Coco. He is preceded in death by his father Rupert and mother Ruth, brothers Michael O. and Rocky Rupert, and sister-in-law, Roselle. In honor of our father, husband and brother a Celebration of Life will be held on October 21, 2023 at the Yakima Arboretum, 1401 Arboretum Dr. Yakima, WA from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Another celebration will be held on November 4, 2023 at Ballard Elks Hall, 6411 Seaview Ave. NW Seattle, WA at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Cottage in the Meadow at Memfound.org. We also want to thank the staff at Cottage in the Meadow for taking extra care of Dan and helping him enjoy the sun in his Hawaiian shirt.
