David Gordon Scott

–

Yakima, Washington

Surrounded by family and love, David Miller passed away on January 28, 2015. Born and raised in Yakima, Dave graduated from Davis High School in 1966. After high school, he moved to Seattle where he worked for Boeing. Dave met his wife, Kathy Miller shortly after moving to Seattle and they were married at St. Joseph Parish of Yakima on June 13, 1970. Eventually they moved back to Yakima where Dave began his own business, designing many of the logos and signs seen around the Yakima Valley. Dave then transitioned into the auto sales industry where he grew a career for over 18 years. Although Dave loved fishing and cooking, his biggest passion was his family and kids. Dave never missed a sporting event, choir or band concert, a dance recital or a play. It was always important that the family be close, spending holidays and birthdays together. He would talk about how the most important thing was family and not to lose sight of that. Dave cherished all of the moments he spent with his wife and children and thrived when he became a grandpa.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathy Miller, children Adrienne and Brady Houck, Lindsey Miller and Travis Endo, Trenton Miller, grandchildren Leyton and Finley Houck. He is also survived by his two sisters, Donna Leach, Darlene Dieren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alice Miller, sister Alice Van Horn, and nephew Bill Anderson.
Dave was also passionate in the fight against prostate cancer. By participating in clinical studies, Dave's goal was to do his share to find a cure for prostate cancer so that his son, son-in-laws and grandsons didn't have the same battle his father and him had. In lieu of flowers and other sentiments, his family asks that donations be made to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Donations can be made at http://www.seattlecca.org/scca-make-a-donation.cfm or can be mailed to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Attn: Donations, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle, WA 98109-1023
