Duane William UNLAND Obituary (2025)

Duane was born in Hemet, California to Bernice and Lewis Unland. Duane, the youngest of three children, loved his independence and sought his own path. Duane achieved the status of Eagle Scout and enjoyed sports in school. After high school, Duane served in the US Air Force. After his service supporting our country, Duane married Paula Brown and worked in the Aerospace industry. Duane and his family moved to Utah, where he earned a bachelor's degree in agronomy from Utah State University. Moving to Washington State, Duane began his career in agriculture and managed large commercial farms in the Columbia Basin. Duane was highly sought after as an agricultural consultant, and many countries around the world acquired his services to build very successful farms. From 1989 until his retirement in 2010, Duane worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and developed orchard and vineyard land leases. After retirement, Duane was self-employed as a Broker and Consultant. Duane and his family took yearly voyages to Alaska to fish and explore the frontier. Duane loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, traveling to sporting events, and attending other special occasions. As an avid gardener, Duane provided a plethora of fruit and vegetables for the family to eat and store for later use. Over the course of Duane's life, he never lost his independent spirit and unquenched desire for adventure. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. Duane is survived by his wife, two siblings, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
