Floreen Williams Floreen passed peacefully from this life the evening of July 23rd, 2015. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Floreen was born Nov. 24th 1936 to the late Jewel and Eula Mae Pierce in Jackson Parish, Louisiana. She attended Jaspher Henderson High School in Chatham, Louisiana where she graduated. Floreen accepted Christ at an early age at the St. Peter's Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years. In the early 70's she migrated to the Northwest, settling in Toppenish, Washington. It was there she acquired one of her many talents and learned to play the piano by ear while assisting the church choir. Shortly after, she moved to Yakima where she met her beloved husband Raymond Williams and they shared over 50 years of life together. Floreen has led a life of service and often donated her time to contribute to the community. She started her career as a teacher's aide at Adams Elementary. She worked as a bank teller at Yakima Federal Bank, and was an intake specialist at OIC. She advanced to the Southeast Community Center where she managed the Bingo Hall and later became the librarian. In addition, Floreen was a foster parent with the Casey Family program, participated in jail ministry, and often spent time visiting the sick and shut-in with song and laughter. Floreen loved to read, and complete word search puzzles. She took pride in serving on many committees within the church including children's choir director, Sunday School teacher, and the pastor's aid committee. Florieen leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband Raymond Williams, six children, Debra Crowe, Charles Crowe, Toney Crowe, Cynthia Anderson, Eric Pierce and Shonell Soneson. She had 11 grandchildren. She leaves to cherish four sisters, Glow Pierce, Randy Pierce of Ruston, Louisiana, Pastor Shirley Halloway, Joyce Younger and brother Pastor Bobby Pierce of Oakland, California. The funeral will be held at Greater Faith Baptist Church, located at 816 South 6th Street in Yakima, Washington. Start time for funeral is 10:00 am. Thank you.
