Gertrude Gipson

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, entered Gods Kingdom on October 12, 2022, at the age of 97.

Trudy was born to Pervis and Elizabeth Lee, on May 22, 1925, in Simmesport, Louisiana and lived in Simmesport and Beaumont, Texas during her school age years.

In 1951, Trudy moved to San Francisco, California and while at church met the love of her life, a young preacher named Norris Gipson. After a brief courtship they were married and were happily married and inseparable for 58 years, until Norris passing in 2009. They had one son, Samuel Gipson.

In 1975 the family relocated to Yakima, Washington, where Norris was called to be the Pastor at Mt. Hope Baptist Church.

Trudy was a great cook and loved to garden. One of her special talents was always knowing what her family and friends needed. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were down, her clever sense of humor would make you laugh. If you were troubled, she would provide sound wisdom. If you were sad, she always had soothing words and was quick with a warm hug.

Trudy was a loyal servant to God. She loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ and what he did in her life.

Trudy is preceded in death her husband, Norris, her parents, four siblings, Mamie, Martha, Gloria, and Pervis Jr. She leaves behind a son, Sam Gipson, four grandsons, Sam Gipson Jr., Isaac (Serena) Gipson, Nathaniel (Mindy) Pace, and Rocky (Sarah) Gipson, three great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, May Lee, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on October 15, 2022 at 11:00am at Tahoma Cemetery (Yakima, WA.)
