Hazel Lester Obituary (1933 - 2026)

Hazel Arlene Lester, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on November 23, 1933, in Yakima, Washington, she spent her life devoted to her family, always putting them first, and was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer. Hazel was an inspiration to all who knew her and was fiercely independent. Hazel married her high school sweetheart, Farrell Lester. They enjoyed many years together raising a family, working, camping, fishing, bowling, and playing Bingo. Hazel created many beautiful blankets through knitting and crocheting. In her later years, she enjoyed making Diamond Art and shared her artwork with nearby nursing homes and Montessori schools. She was also inventive in the kitchen, preparing tasty dishes--her bread rolls were mouthwatering. She also taught herself how to make wedding cakes, much to the delight of family and friends. Hazel took an active role in grandparenting, teaching the kids how to play games, bake cookies, and have fun. An avid bowler, Hazel won numerous tournaments. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and caring for her lawn. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae Weiler, and her husband, Farrell Lester. She is survived by her sister, Patty Lovestrand; her brother, Tom Weiler (Penny); daughter, Cindy Clock (Eric); son, Joe Lester (Pam); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
