Janetta Lynn Deacon

Lynn Deacon passed away on June 18th, 2016 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lynn and her twin sister, Lynda, were born August 18, 1945 to Mildred and James G. Morgan Jr. in Monte Vista, CO. The twins' father was in the Air Force, and after many moves they returned 10 years later to Monte Vista.
In 1962, Lynn and Gary Deacon married and became owners of Deacon's Distributing in 1971. That year Lynn had an accident leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Lynn ran the business for another 20+ years while raising two children. She was active in the community and church; serving on the school steering committee, treasurer at Sargent Church, Chamber of Commerce and SBA advisory board.
Through adversity, Lynn said the three things that kept her going were: love for her family, her church family and business family. Lynn was very independent and being in a wheelchair never slowed her down. She tried to provide a "normal" lifestyle for her children. She was very proud of them and loved to share in their adventures. To all that knew her, she was a caring, giving and spiritual person. She made a friend with everyone she met and touched their lives in a special way.
In 1995, she married former classmate Lee Gallegos and moved to Santa Barbara, CA for 2 years. Upon his retirement they moved to Montrose, CO to be near family and grandchildren. Lynn loved cooking, sewing and spoiling her grandchildren. They both were active in their local museum, and Lynn finished the family genealogy documenting five ancestry lines going back to their arrival on the Mayflower. Her great-grandfather C.S. Conant was the founder of The Monte Vista Journal and grandparents Palmer & Delilah Conant continued the family business.
In 2010, she moved to Yakima, WA to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of the Lamplighter Bible Study. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Rummy Cubes with friends at Brookdale. Everyone that met her loved her, and even though she was here a short time she made many friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by husband, Lee; parents, Mildred and James G. Morgan Jr.; former father-in-law, Shirley Deacon; and former mother-in-law, Bette Deacon. Lynn is survived by daughter, Shannon (Phil) Moyer; son Paul (Patti) Deacon; grandchildren Allison and Randy Deacon; and sister Lynda Rowan.
Services will be held in Monte Vista, CO at the Sargent Community Church on Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at 10:00am and burial will follow at the Monte Vista Cemetery.
