Union Gap, Washington
Janice A. Easter was born in Wapato, Washington, on January 28, 1933, to Ted and Minnie Easter.
When she was six years old, her family moved to Union Gap, where her father owned an automotive repair shop. She attended school in Union Gap and graduated from Yakima High School with the class of 1951.
Janice began her career at Gasperetti’s in Union Gap, working alongside her lifelong friend, Jean Gasperetti. After the restaurant closed, she joined Shakey’s Pizza, where she became the manager. A wonderful cook, she always kept those around her eager to try her new recipes. She later retired from Orchard Park Retirement Center.
Janice was a longtime golfer, who enjoyed playing with the ladies at Sun Tides Golf Course. She loved Union Gap and devoted much of her time to volunteering with the Parks Department, the Miss Union Gap Board, and the Union Gap Volunteer Police Department, among other organizations. She treasured family reunions, holiday gatherings, and visits with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Janice was dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her nephew, Craig, her nieces, Linda, Sandra, Karen, and Lori, her godchildren, Dr. Kevin Simmons, and Kena Chase of Kennewick and West Richland, and her very special cousin, Wilma Simmons. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dwight, and his wife, Jackie, her brother Clyde, and her very special and close cousin, Ron Simmons.
