Yakima, Washington
Jean Lois Suver, age 90, of Yakima, WA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Feb. 16, 2024.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska to parents Norval and Beulah (Sickles) Sheppard, Jean spent her younger years in Mountain Village, Alaska. She lived on the family homestead along the Yukon river, where they built and managed a salmon cannery, trading posts and barge line.
She attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington and then worked for Northwest Orient Airlines as a stewardess for two years based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Jean married Robert Suver in 1957 and they made their home in Yakima, WA where they raised five children. When the youngest started school she began working full time as a sales associate at S.O. Hawkes & Son jewelry store in downtown Yakima for a number of years until the store closed. She enjoyed her job and meeting many new people.
She started bowling when her children were small and until a few years ago was bowling in two senior leagues a week for the last 25 years. She had a passion for gardening and her yard kept her busy in the summer months. Her backyard pool provided many memories for family and friends over the years. She also loved to read and always had a book nearby.
We were fortunate to celebrate her 90th birthday this past December. She enjoyed going out to lunch with many family members present.
Jean is survived by daughters Linda Sagaser (Butch) of Dayville, OR, Rochelle Grant (Rod) of Yakima, WA, Denise Trusley (Greg) of Nampa, ID, sons Jeff Suver of Seattle, WA and Kevin Suver of Bothell, WA. Grandchildren Matthew, Ryan and Rachel; Tyler and Lauren; Megan and Kyle; Morgan, Madison and Andrew; and Danni. Additionally, she was blessed with 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, siblings Douglas and Lenore, and a grandson Adam.
There will be a private family graveside service held at a later date per Jeans request.
