Kathryn Tobin

Yakima, Washington

YAKIMA - Kathryn Lynn Tobin, 57, of Yakima was returned to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18th, at her home following a long illness. Kathy was born in and spend much of her life in Yakima, living for some time in Sierraville, CA and Crescent City, CA before returning in 1986. She worked in many jobs in the valley including office management of a local physical therapist. She retired due to disability in 1995.

Kathy was an active volunteer in the valley, who treasured and served others. She was an involved member of the Daughters of the Nile until 2005, organized senior and community activities, loved to garden, adored nature and the outdoors, and was always serving her friends and neighbors in any way possible. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church for many years and later the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses where she had many dear friends.

In spite of being disabled by a back injury, Kathy was known by all for her strength of will to push through her pain in order to extend kindnesses to those she knew. Kathy's house was always a place of peaceful serenity, a yard filled with singing birds, and plenty of homemade treats for unexpected visitors. She would always arrive to visit, even the doctor, with a fresh baked treat in hand. She enjoyed the unconditional love and companionship of her 3 dogs and 2 cats. She adored the outdoors, especially the forest where her parents built a cabin on Chinook Pass, and spent many hours watching birds or other wildlife.

Grieving her loss is a daughter, Sarina (Tavis) Elliott of Bothell, WA; grandson, Camrin, two granddaughters, Jolie and Bria; a beloved nephew, Daniel Hall of Yakima; her dear mother, Eva Hall of Yakima; sisters CJ Nitschke and Suzanne (Kenny) Clough of Crescent City, CA; 2 neices, Donna Hall of Galax, VA and Tara Witcher of Seattle, WA, and a nephew, Gene Hall. She was preceeded in death by her father, Eugene Hall; a mother, Maxine Hall; and a brother, Daniel Hall.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Friday at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the loving care and kindness of Dr. Dan Doornink as well as the Memorial Hospital Hospice team and volunteers. Condolences may be sent to Sarina Elliott, 18009 Bellflower RD, Bothell, WA 98012.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Hospital's Hospice Program or to Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of the Daughters of the Nile.
