Kathryn Virginia Morehouse Obituary (2024)

Kathy was taken to her heavenly home, by her Lord and Savior, on February 7, 2024, while sleeping. At the time, she was receiving memory care and hospice care at Covenant House. She was born in 1948, to John and Gladys Kahl, in Yakima. She graduated from Selah High School with honors in 1966. She was always remembering her wonderful childhood and her friends as she got older. She later graduated from YVC with her associate degree in Dental Hygiene. After 20 years in the profession, she retired. In 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry Morehouse. They had one son, Jeff, and enjoyed watching him grow to be the man he is now. She, Larry, and Jeff did many things together and enjoyed being a family. Kathy enjoyed going to Cannon Beach, Oregon, with Larry. They went several times a year. She really enjoyed the time spent in the mountains in their RV. She was a prolific gardener and loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She could make anything grow. She loved animals, and throughout the years they had nine cats and a golden retriever. She is preceded in death by her parents, uncle, Edgar, and sister, Caroline. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry, son Jeff (Tasha) of Oregon, grandchildren, Ashlee (Gary) of California, JJ of Oregon, Kaitlyn of Arizona, and loved niece, Sheri (James) of Terrace Heights. She is also survived by her grandnephews, Dustin (Kjersti) of Oklahoma, and Garrett of Washington, her sister, Susan (Kim) of Missouri, as well as her friends, Sami Crawford, Linda Price, Linda Olsen, and Kay Huntziker, and the many people whose lives she touched through her kindness. The family would like to thank her doctors, Bonnie Kultgen and MaCortney, the nurses at Memorial Hospital, the caregivers at Covenant House (especially Katie), and Memorial Hospice for the care that she received. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00-7:00pm, at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA). A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 2:00pm, at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, with a Reception immediately following, at Yakima Bible Baptist Church. In memory of Kathy, memorial contributions may be made payable to an animal rescue organization of your choice, and sent in care of Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd St., Yakima, WA 98901), who is caring for the family.
