Marshall Kenneth Brown

–

Yakima, Washington

Marshall Kenneth Brown was called to his heavenly Home, August 23, 2026. Marshall was born July 30, 2000, to David Brown and Shana Zepeda. Marshall arrived three weeks early, weighing 5 lbs, 11.5 oz., and he was 19-3/4 inches long.

Marshall grew up in Yakima, attending Riverside Christian School, McClure Elementary, and Gilbert Elementary, until moving to the Tri-Cities in 2007.

Upon moving to the Tri-Cities (W. Pasco), Marshall attended Maya Angelo Elementary School (1st-5th), McLoughlin Middle School, also known as MAC (6th-8th), and then Chiawana High School (9th-10th). After completing his sophomore year, Marshall moved back to Yakima.

During his elementary years, Marshall joined The Bears football team. He played T-Ball and baseball. He also raced quads (4-wheelers) with his younger brother Jesse at HRMC (Horn Rapids Motorsports Complex, in Richland, WA). While at MAC, Marshall joined the tennis team, took piano lessons, and he had two piano recitals (he played Für Elise!). Marshall also found a passion in learning about history, our military, and our country. Marshall held the upmost respect for our Military branches, our Veterans, our flag, and our country! Marshall was always an “old soul.” He appreciated, respected, thoroughly embraced, and enjoyed older music, older cars, and older people.

Marshall loved his family, spending time with them, swimming, camping, playing piano, and learning German and Russian (independently). He loved his dog (Jasmine also known as Jazzy Girl). Christmas and Halloween were his favorite holidays. Playing outside, going on road trips, going on bike rides, cliff jumping, hanging out with his friends, especially Gabe and Steven, sledding, snowball fights, cooking and baking, black jellybeans, watching sunsets, watching movies (shortly after watching Star Wars, his Grandma Great made him his own Death Vader cape & let me tell you, he wore it loud & proud EVERYWHERE!). Marshall loved Mad Libs, telling jokes & pulling pranks (he got me with baby powder in my blow dryer once!). We also had a huge, rubber spider (Sandifur) that we hid around the house scaring each other. Oh, and Stephanie (a mannequin head) was hidden inside the house as well as in vehicles! Haha! LOTS OF GREAT TIMES!

Marshall took great pride in being an older brother to Jesse. They enjoyed playing video games such as Halo, Call of Duty, Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Marvel Superheroes. They also watched horror movies, like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and they also got hooked on Ghost Rider. When Marshall turned 16, he always took Jesse to and from school, the movies, the mall, fast food, you name it. They would also just cruise around together. (Probably looking for chicks!)

Marshall had an extremely kind and tender heart for those he knew, loved, and cared about, as well as a perfect stranger, ever since he was a little boy. He was described as having a servant’s heart. Marshall accepted Jesus into his heart with his mother when he was five years old. Marshall loved the Lord, going to church, MOPS, and worshiping the Lord with his hands high in the air. Marshall decided to be baptized when he was 10 years old. He was so happy and proud of his decision and so were we!

Marshall was such a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him! He was always 100% himself, with no exceptions and no apologies. He never got into any trouble. He never caused any trouble. He was smart, honorable, genuine, honest, respectful, caring, kind, loyal, humble and compassionate.

As far as I’m concerned, on July 30, 2000, the sun shined brighter when this world gained a baby boy named Marshall Kenneth Brown, and on August 23, 2026, the moon shined brighter when Heaven gained our sweet Marshall, all 6’1” of him (73 inches).

Marshall is preceded in death by his great-grandpa, Ed Zepeda, grandpa, Gilbert “Gil” Zepeda also known as Grandpa Jellybean, Papa Gaylord “Gabe” Crabtree also known as Papa Tree, and Grandma Great Genevieve “Genny” Fines. Marshall is survived by his mother, Shana Zepeda, brother, Jesse Arreguin, sister-in-law, Taylor Carter-Arreguin, nieces, Rebecca Reign Carter-Arreguin and Adalynn Mae Crabtree, grandma, Delana (Lana) Crabtree also known as Grandma Tree, uncles, Jason Crabtree, Shane Crabtree, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Marshall, a cherished son, brother, and friend, was born on July 30, 2000, in Yakima, Washington. He embarked on his eternal journey on August 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that will forever be remembered by those who knew him. Marshall was the beloved son of David Brown and Shana Zepeda, who survive him, along with his dear sibling, Jesse.

From a young age, Marshall exhibited profound care for those around him, always cheerful and ready to lend a helping hand. This innate compassion was evident in the devoted care he provided to his grandmother, a testament to his nurturing spirit.

A graduate of Selah High School in 2019, Marshall was a diligent and passionate worker. He found great fulfillment in his roles at Wray's Thrift Way and as a caregiver for his grandmother. His dedication to his work was matched only by his enthusiasm for his hobbies.

Marshall had a keen interest in military memorabilia, a hobby he pursued with great passion. He also delighted in the world of video games, where he found joy and camaraderie. Furthermore, his love of horticulture was evident in his appreciation for flowers and his involvement in related business ventures.

Among Marshall's most cherished companions was his beloved dog, Sabrina, who held a special place in his heart. His bond with Sabrina was a reflection of the deep love and care he extended to all living beings, a quality that endeared him to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

A Celebration of Marshall's Life will take place on September 18, 2026, at 10:00am viewing and 11:00am funeral service, at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N 2nd St., Yakima, WA 98901). Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a young man, whose light shone brightly in the lives of those he touched.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Shaw & Sons for the wonderful support and care provided during this time of grief. Marshall's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made payable to Tunnels to Towers or the VFW, organizations that were meaningful to Marshall. Memorial contributions may be sent in care of Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd St., Yakima, WA 98901), who is caring for the family.
