Martha L. Hanigan, 82, of Yakima, died February 14, 2013, in Yakima. She was born November 24, 1930, in Lees Summit, Missouri, moving to Loveland, CO, and had lived in the Yakima area for the past sixty seven years.
God sent a special Valentine to our beloved Mother, Martha this year, inviting her to spend the rest of eternity with HIm. Martha was a very loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All who knew Martha loved and appreciated her kind, friendly, unassuning manner; she will be loved and missed until allare reunited with her someday. Martha loved being part of her familyu's ups and downs, always lending an ear and advice if requested; she never gave up on anyone. From their earliest recollection her family reported how generously Martha gave of her time, energy, and expertise in sewing, cooking, and in showing her offspring how to turn a mixer load of concrete into beautiful lawn ornaments, a business she pursued for over 45 years. Martha delighted in putting her seamstress skills to the test in making her daughte's and her daughter's dolls clothing, she was so skilled that she made all of her daughters' wedding dresses. Martha's family was her real pride and joy, she liked nothing better than a big celebration with hugh meals and all the family presenst. Martha was a very skilled self-taught cook and was especially known for her seafood salad and chowder, she loved trying new recipes and always made copious amounts, no one ever left her home hungry, even when as was often the case there were a few new faces at the table. All of her family had their favorite food that Marytha would prepare on Holidays and birthdays and each was given the choice of the foods for their special day be it chocolate cake, raspberry pie, and of course a whole array of Christmas cookies and the best fruitcake. We her family will always be forever grateful for the life of love and devotion she demonstrated for us and are very blesseed to have had her in in our lives even though the last few years presented many health challenges for her. Rest in peace our beloved.
