Mary Eleanor Hennessy Obituary (2025)

Mary Hennessy went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2025, at the age of 93. Mary was born on April 6, 1932, in Selah, Washington, to Mickael and Thea Mastel. She was the youngest of seven children. Mary's family moved onto a farm in West Valley later that year, where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in 1950, being the first of her siblings to complete high school. Mary married Robert Hennessy in 1953. They started their family and moved around Washington State, following his construction jobs. They eventually settled in Yakima to raise their five children. Mary worked in the fruit industry, until her retirement from Snokist Growers, in 1993. She then moved into her dream home with her husband on three acres of her childhood family's property. Mary loved the beach and traveled many times to the Oregon Coast. She enjoyed living in the country and loved having large family gatherings for birthdays and holidays. Mary was passionate about gardening and her yard contained a large variety of flowers. Later in life Mary became known for her love of cookies. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Teresa, daughter-n-law Sandy and all of her siblings. Mary is survived by three sons, James (Kathy) Hennessy of Portland, Oregon, Robert Hennessy of Yakima, Thomas (Valerie) Hennessy of Yakima, and one daughter Kathy (Dave) Lucas of Naches. Mary also has eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, at10:00am.
