Norman Lawrence Jenkins Obituary (2024)

Norman Jenkins, 88, of Selah, passed away peacefully at his home, on September 28, 2024. Norman Lawrence Jenkins was born in McClurg, Missouri, to Yuell and Jessie (Englelhardt) Jenkins, on August 17, 1936. Norman met his future wife, Sarah Alice Pellham, when both were attending high school in Bradleyville, Missouri. They married on May 21, 1956. A little over a year later, they relocated to Selah with their infant son, Tony, and Norman's parents. Initially, most family members worked in the fruit orchards in the Yakima area. Norman later tended bar for several years in Selah, then for 30 years, he worked at the Yakima Valley School as a supervisor. Norman had several passions. Since his teen years, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country songs. Additionally, Norman loved classic cars, especially his 1931 Ford Model A, which he drove in parades and placed in shows. He also loved reading and discussing American history and politics. Norman was the family historian, who had an incredible memory of family lore and bar stories, always entertaining. Norman and Alice lost Tony in 2015. Norman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice, son, Tim Jenkins, daughter-in-law, Maxine Stansell, grandson, Dylan Jenkins, granddaughter-in-law, Rebecca Jenkins, and Tony's longtime companion, Donna Meir. The family wishes to thank Heartlinks Hospice for their kind support since Norman's cancer diagnosis. A Graveside Service will be held at a future date.
