Yakima, Washington
Reba Mae Buck, 76, passed away December 10, 2009 at Yakima Memorial hospital after courageously battling cancer for a year and a half. Reba was born in McClurg, Missouri, in 1933, to Margaret and Buell Jenkins, her family moved to Selah in 1945.
Reba graduated from Selah High School and attended Yakima Valley College, before going on to work at KNDO as traffic coordinator for 23 years. Reba raised two children, a daughter, Sherry Carlson of Anchorage, Alaska, and a son Randolph Wood who preceded her in death in 1973.
Reba married the love of her life Donald Buck in 1985, next May 18th would have been their 25th anniversary. After retiring Reba and Don enjoyed traveling in their RV and being with family and friends. Recently they traded the RV for a condo in Sun City Arizona, right down the street from Dons brother and sister in law Ron and Diane Buck who were Rebas dear friends and companions.
Reba loved decorating her new condo and relished finding the best deals. She also loved gardening, a passion that can be seen in the beautiful landscaping her and Dons home in Selah, one of the first things she did after coming home from the hospital the last time was go to the nursery and buy miniature roses.
But most of all it was Rebas inner strength and beauty that always left an impression on those of us fortunate enough to have known her. She lived her life with a quiet grit and grace that even in the last trying months of her life moved her family, friends and caregivers.
Rebas family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Brady, and Nurses Carrie, Barb, and Pat along with all of the staff of Washington Hematology and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital wing 2 East for the loving care which allowed Reba to leave this life with the dignity and class with which she lived a true blessing for her and her family.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Buell Jenkins, two brothers Bob Jenkins and Johnny Jenkins and her son Randolph Wood.
Reba is survived by her husband, Donald Buck of Selah; daughter Sherry Carlson of Anchorage Alaska; grandson, Christopher Harris of Flagstaff Arizona; special cousins Norman and Alice Jenkins of Selah; numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews; adopted son and granddaughter William and Mikaela Cagle; brother in law and sister in law Ron and Diane Buck; brother in law and sister in law John and Marcia Marron; and sister in law Karen Payne.
