Renee Ana Rakwichian Obituary (2024)

Renee Anna Rakwichian (Panter) died peacefully with her family by her side from cancer on Tuesday January 30, 2024 in Yakima, Washington at the age of 77. Renee is survived by her children Kimberly Jensen, Dana Martinez, and her baby Patrick Jensen, her brothers Jack Panter, Raymond Panter, Daniel Panter and David Panter; her sister Dawn Moldenhauer; her 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter Carl Jensen and son Pater Carl Jensen Jr, of Yakima, Washington. Renee Panter was born on July 21, 1946 in La Grande, Oregon to Leonard and Mildred Panter. Her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah when she was still a young child, where she would earn her GED and meet her husband Peter Carl Jensen. The couple would have three of their children in Salt Lake City before moving to Yakima, Washington to welcome one more. In Yakima she raised her four children and worked as a pharmacist technician until she retired at 62. Her family remember her home was always open to all. Where the neighborhood children and her children's friends were all welcome and would also call her "mom". The home was also welcomed to her grandchildren where many of them would spend their summers, and some came to live with her as teenagers and into early adulthood. She also stayed in contact with her brothers, sisters, and husbands family by traveling to family reunions and their homes to maintain the generational family relationships. To her nieces and nephews, she became known as the strict and tough Aunt that ran a tight ship. She maintained a strong faith in her religion over the years as a Jehovah Witness, volunteered as a sexual assault advocate and had no problem in intervening in child or spousal abuse. A funeral will be held on Saturday February 10th at 1:00pm at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N 2nd St, Yakima, WA 98901) with a reception to follow. There will be a Viewing at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 3:00-7:00pm are welcome to attend and celebrate Renee Panter's life.
