YAKIMA - Rogelio Pena, 59, of Yakima, died January 25, 2014, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Rogelio was born August 25, 1954, in Chichigualco, Guerreo, Mexico, to Gilberto Pena and Juana Garcia. Rogelio, upon his arrival to the United States, lived in many places: Arizona, Texas, California, Nebraska and Idaho, were some to be named. Once he reached Washington, he would love to go outdoors and go fishing as often as he could. Rogelio very much enjoyed watching action films with Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal, and especially cowboy/country westerns with Clint Eastwood. Horses were his favorite animals besides a blue healer, K-9. He was married to Kathy Mae Peterson on August 18, 1999, in Yakima. He was widowed one year later.
Rogelio was a hardworking man. He worked all of his life to support and care for his family, until health problems prevented his working last year. He loved his job in agriculture. He worked for Sundquist Cold Storage & Fruit for over 30 years.

Rogelio's surviving family includes his sons Aaron Pena-Peterson, Kevin Pena, step-son Derrick Peterson; his daughter Melissa Pena; his mother Juana Garcia, and his brothers Natividad, Candido, Victor, and Manuel Pena, and sisters Rita, Socorro, Mireya, Irma, and Martha Pena; and his grandchildren Sarai Peterson and Daniael Peterson. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy and his father Gilberto.
Private services will be held at a later date. Condolences and memories of Rogelio may be shared with his family at www.shawandsons.com.
