Stanley Lee Wells, 89, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Stan was born on January 19, 1937, in Council Grove, Kansas, to Homer and Malinda Wells. He was the ninth of ten children and spent his childhood in Council Grove, graduating from Council Grove High School in 1954.
Shortly after graduation, he followed several of his siblings to Washington, where he began building the life that would define him. The two were married on June 2, 1957, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted nearly 70 years. Together, they worked side by side as butcher and meat wrapper from 1956, until Stan's retirement in 2002, earning the respect and friendship of countless customers and coworkers along the way.
Stan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his kindness, quiet wisdom, gentle smile, and unforgettable belly laugh. Stan had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Stan is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Malinda Wells; his nine siblings, Veatrice, Caroline, James, Mabel, Mary, Delpha, Walter, Homer, and Max; and his beloved grandson, Korey Komstadius.
