Susan Elsie Schauer Obituary (2023)

On December 5, 2023, Susan Elsie Schauer, age 74, passed away peacefully in Yakima surrounded by her family. She was born March 11, 1949, to Leslie and Dorothy (Heath) Schauer in Sandpoint, Idaho. Susan was warm and caring with a great sense of humor and a deep love for her family. Susan was a devoted stay-at-home mom raising her four children. Occasionally to help make ends meet she would work part-time jobs, including A&W, Burger Chef, and Grizzly Bear. When her children were older, she sold appliances at Sears. Susan's passions included arts and crafts, bowling, camping, reading, and attending her grandchildren's events which brought her immense joy. She was raised in Naches, attended Naches schools, and furthered her education in business at Yakima Valley College. Susan was terrified by her asthma and sadly it is what took her from us too soon. Although we feel cheated to lose her, we know in our hearts she is at peace and no longer in fear. Susan is reunited with her sons and granddaughter, and all the loved ones that passed before her. Susan is survived by her daughters, Shelly Shane (Mike) and Anna Green (Brandon), along with her grandchildren Shawn Kilpatrick (Jonathan), Jamie Thomas (Alec), Aaron Kilpatrick, Alex Kilpatrick, Michael Nathlich, Jimmy Hall, and great-grandson Finnegan Thomas, and step granddaughters Megan Davin, Michaela Shane (Chris), and step great-grandchildren Avreyonna, Michael, Sena, and Abel Wilks, Ayva Davin, and Apollo and Penelope Thomas. Susan is also survived by her sisters Helen Leslie (Danny), Carolea Martin Harris, Marianne McGowen (David), Elizabeth Culligan (Pete), Penelope Johnson (Steve), and Pam Warnock, her brothers Jeff Powell and Patrick Kehoe, and numerous nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Mike and Tim Kilpatrick, granddaughter Tylee Briggs, sisters Patricia McNamara and Shirley Powell, and brother Mark Fuss. We will miss Susan and keep her tucked safely in our hearts forever. Please join us in honoring her life and celebrating the love and joy she brought to all of us. Susan's funeral will be held on Friday, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Hiland Chapel, located at 261 Hiland Road, Tieton, Washington, with a reception to follow. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Shaw & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
